PIPEDA stands for - Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
The Barrie Ballroom Dance Club BBDC respects your privacy. We also strive to protect the confidentiality of any personal information you may give us. Wed like you to know: - The circumstances under which we collect information
- The kind of information we collect
- How we may use that information.
We will let you know specifically before we collect any of your personal information details that can identify you as an individual, such as your name or address. We will explain what information is being collected and how it will be used. You have the right to decline
to have part or any of this information collected.
We will only collect personal information you choose to provide to us. We do not use techniques that collect personal information about you without your knowledge. You may provide us with information on-line via the website, via personal e-mail, in a telephone conversation, in person, or through a completed printed form. The
information you provide will be securely stored either on a computer or as part of a hard-copy filing system.
Internet, email, by phone, mail or in person at our dance events
BBDC takes new membership registration and renewals. We will collect information on you, which may include your name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. This data is captured and entered onto a secure server on the Internet. Data is used only to allow efficient administration of membership distribute mailings and monitor
membership renewals. Limited to the board members, your data is accessed only by the elected Officers and Directors.
We do not publish a membership roster. Your contact information may be used to generate attendance at our events, follow up on lapsed memberships or ask for committee support.
No information collected is sold, rented or given to third parties for non-BBDC use.
We do not do on-line payments so there are no security issues.
BBDC also collects contact information from you if you enquire about membership, website content or dance events. Such data is used to follow up on these enquiries. These responses are limited to elected Board members, mostly but not limited to, the
president, the webmaster and the membership director. This data is not stored, sold, rented or given to third parties.
Your Information
The BBDC is committed to ensuring that your information is up-to-date. If you believe
this is not the case, as a member you can logon and maintain this information yourself
or you may contact the Webmaster or the Membership Director to update the
information we hold on file for you.
Removal of Personal Information
Your personal information is retained in our records while you are a member in good standing of the BBDC and for a period of three years after your membership last lapsed. We retain it for this period of time only to facilitate reinstatement, should you request it. Information continues to remain confidential as outlined elsewhere in this document.
Currency of data collected
We do not use third parties to collect this data on our behalf, and you will never be directed to a third-party website for this purpose. If you receive any communication the authenticity of which is doubtful, please contact the BBDC webmaster immediately.
Pictures
The BBDC will sometimes take photos at dance events. These photos are saved securely on an internet hosting server and viewing is restricted only to members in good standing. We do not use these photos for advertising or sell them to third parties.
Privacy Officer
