President's Message...

Greetings fellow dancers! I hope you are all taking advantage of this very snowy winter, enjoying all that Barrie has to offer in the winter months.  Skiing, snow-shoeing, walks in the snow; what a perfect way to keep your dancing legs and feet in shape!

As you know, our Annual General Meeting was held prior to the January dance.  I would at this time like to thank all the executive of 2008, for their hard work and support.  Our Board was very keen, came up with many new ideas, and I have been fortunate to work with such an enthusiastic and supportive group. We can all be proud of a very successful year for the Barrie Ballroom Dance Club. You will find that the Board for 2009 looks pretty familiar.  We have lost only one executive member this year.  Rod Lebel has decided to step down, however he will continue in a non-executive position as our webmaster.  We thank him sincerely for all he has done and continues to do for the Club.

I also wish to extend my thanks to our members. For your kind words of encouragement, donations to our prize table, and for offering to help out from time to time with the many tasks that fall upon us – a sincere thank-you.

The Annual Gala Ball was another sold-out event, and a truly magical evening. Our 20th Anniversary dance was a great success, and rolling back the prices to 1988 was appreciated by all. Both events were met with a very enthusiastic crowd ready to dance the night away! Because of the many members and guests who voted for their favorite music selections, we had an especially unique program at our last dance. And to all those who have inquired....the new BBDC bumper sticker is on its way!

We still have many ideas up our sleeves, and hope you will all continue to support our club for 2009. With the implementation of our many theme dances, you won’t want to miss a single date!
